UPDATE!
MARCH 7th 2010

GINO MATTEO is just one of the Artists that will be Performing at the Los Angeles Blues Society`s
Fundraiser April 11th 2010 @ the MAXSON ROADHOUSE (see flyer)

The hard working, road-dog sextet known as Gino Matteo & The Family Phunk are playing a limited number of Southern California engagements this year as Gino is hard at work developing the new album tentatively titled "Imaginary Boy", as well as producing and writing for various artists including legendary blues veterans "Blinddog Smokin'" and some upcoming film and television scores. It has been and continues to be an exciting year for this talented young writer.

The band's newest additions of Chalo Ortiz on guitar, and Fabian Chavez on Saxophone and Percussion add a new dimension to Gino's writing, which only enhances the soul of the group.

Chalo Ortiz is a 24 year old guitarist whiz kid whose, in his short lifetime become a veteran with a specialty in creating a solid foundation for Gino to spread his wings musically. Also his solo work is simply incendiary. Mixing Latin Jazz, Bebop and Blues, he creates a sound all his own, and all "Chalo".

Fabian Chavez is incredible. Simply put. The 17 year old phenom is by no means a flash in the pan. His tone, sonic awareness and enthusiasm is nothing less than infectious. Fabian is a blessed human being all over and a charismatic force onstage who brings his own specific flavor to the table leaving audiences wanting seconds and thirds.

Gino Matteo, "Chicago" Chuck Gullens, Chris White, Morris "Mo" Beeks, Chalo Ortiz, and Fabian Chavez are a force to be reckoned with musically.

On behalf of Elnora & Sumpthin' Cookin', I wanted to say a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to everyone who helped make the Blues jam such a success Sunday afternoon.

The players who came down to jam were all excellent musicians who showed great patience as well as great talent. Sometimes an open jam can be like herding cats, but everyone was a cool cat, and my only regret is we couldn't play 'til midnight. Everyone had something to say, musically and I think everyone had a great time. Thanks to all of you!

I want to extend my personal apologies to those who didn't get the opportunity to play, or to play with whom they wanted or as much as they wanted. There were a few and I know the loss was ours. Some needed to leave early, but I know there were a few who also stayed and didn't have the opportunity, or we just missed you in the excitement.  The good news was we had a fantastic turnout with top musical talent.

Mike and Lynn from Main Street Restaurant were wonderful to everyone. Please support them and their restaurant because the food was good, the prices very reasonable, and they are supporting live Blues. Please tell your friends, neighbors and colleagues. THANK YOU MAIN STREET!

I want to personally thank Lorey Maurer, Gene Carlson, Maile Alday, and Pat Graham for all their hard work. It is a thankless job organizing these events and everyone has an opinion about where, who, what and how it ought to be. The plain fact is it happened because of these folks. If you had a good time, if you had the opportunity to perform or just enjoy the music, please help support the L.A. Blues Society and become a member. It's a small price to pay to support the Blues. And be sure and say thank you to these folks, they are the best!

Best regards,

Bob Hatcher & the band
